Proposal 3: Promote the Vote

Proposal 3: Promote the Vote

Background: A proposal to authorize automatic and Election Day voter registration, no-reason absentee voting, and straight ticket voting; and add current legal requirements for military and overseas voting and postelection audits to the Michigan Constitution.

What it does: This proposal would amend the Michigan Constitution to secure the voting rights of all eligible Michigan citizens and increase election security. The proposal would allow eligible Michigan citizens to register to vote at any time up to and including election day and allow any registered voter to vote early by absentee ballot for any reason. It would also register eligible Michigan citizens to vote during transactions at the Secretary of State offices unless they decline. Finally, it would require an audit of elections.
